$83.00Wearing a Vestfold bunad, movable limbs allow doll to be posed, by Arne Hasle, 12″ high, made in Norway.
The first Hasle nissen was made in 1958 by the married couple Arne and Solveig Hasle. Arne Hasle was an engineer, and had acquired knowledge of plastic production within latex and PVC. He shaped the distinctive faces and bodies. Solveig Hasle was educated at the Statens Håndtverks- og Kunstindustriskole and had many ideas about clothing design and Norwegian national costumes. Together they developed the gnomes, which eventually became very popular Christmas decorations. Nisse characters come from the traditional folklore of Scandinavia. These “little people” are said to bring good fortune for anyone lucky enough to have one stay with them. By bringing one into your home or farm, they will protect and care for you.
